Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinACC) was founded in 2007. The group is dedicated to reducing the carbon footprint of Winchester District and brings together the efforts of more than 40 active volunteers. It is in contact with some 1700 people in south Hampshire. The work of the group is currently channelled through nine working groups on themes such as food and renewable energy. The group also engages in and seeks to influence the local policy debate on climate change-related issues. Currently the organisation is implementing a Cool Communities programme, which aims to generate greater awareness and increasing level of behaviour change in the everyday life of Winchester residents.
